The countertops were granite tile, the cabinets were white, and the floors were a nice gray tile.I read the reviews online and people didn't seem to like the results when it was used on tubs, but I decided to try it anyways. They are usually used to fix chips and cracks on your washing machine, dryer, stove, refrigerator, bathtubs or sinks.
We just purchased a home in CA that has old tile countertops, the type with grout. in West Hills, CA One of the big advantages of ceramic tile is its repairability.
They are cracked in places and chipped in others, and they basically look old and outdated. I searched but cannot find any ideas on how to improve the look of this type of countertop. Chip out the broken tiles and surrounding grout, and then replace them with accent or contrasting tiles. If the color is slightly off, it may blend in if you have to replace more tiles. The downside is that the counters cannot be used for food prep, but using cutting boards or a portable counter would resolve that health issue. I used wooden deck tiles (I purchased from the large blue and yellow store from Scandinavia), which I loop/hook taped and glued together (once I ran out of Velcro) and just placed on top of my counters.
Coming in a variety of colors and styles, tile is heat-, moisture-, scratch- and stain-resistant, so it works well in a kitchen or bathroom.
When you're stuck with a dated-looking tile countertop, though, it may no longer seem like a good choice -- and since removing and replacing tile is a costly project, it may seem like you're stuck with it.
You'll also want to use a high-quality oil-based primer because it can help the paint bond with the tile more effectively.
